How does this sound?

I'm trying to write something memorable for my mate's Birthday Card as well as Our 1 year Anniversary which is on his birthday. That was when we finally labeled our relationship. I just can't go to the store and just buy any old card because I would need to get two of them. Also I like making cards, even if they are plain and simple. I find writing your own words to mean more than having someone special to you read someone else's thoughts. I've been writing this so many different ways but I dunno if writing it long would be good or should I make it short and sweet. So I'm curious on people's opinion on how this sounds:



We met so awkwardly the first time.
It most definitely wasn't love at first sight.
You stood by my side as I stood by you.
Holding my hand through all my rough times.
Yet not once could we utter I love you...
Time continued to pass us by as feelings grew.
Not one day passed that I didn't thank God for you.
Once our feelings were proclaimed...
I couldn't stop reminding you everyday.
Reminding you how much I love you...
A year has passed now.
We made it through...
You're getting another year older.
Yes, it's true.
But at least you know I'm right here beside you,
All because I love you.

It's very beautiful and I agree, MUCH better than a card. I'd much rather get something thats unique rather than something supplied to millions

I know right. I not only write the card but I also draw artwork as a cover page like a real card. I drew him and I on the cover. Well our heads. Then underneath I wrote Happy Birthday/Anniversary in some styled lettering. Then inside I was gonna write that. Yet they make so many damned cards they don't make any for small occasions like 1st anniversary for couples not married people. Or Happy birthday boyfriend.... Yadda yadda...

xD I could but who would I throw my ideas out too? Besides I wouldn't want to make personalized messages for others. Like I said I like making messages from the heart. Told the same thing to my mate about that. Said all I want from you is a card with something you wrote in it. He went out bought a card for v-day and wrote in it and drew some crappy artwork but I loved it. It made me laugh then cry.

I know he will. I already showed him the drawings. He's a really great man and I found out I love guys younger than me. xD He's going to be 22 and I'm 23... xD Were when I was first engaged I was with a 16 and I was 20... Everything was consented so there was no issue with age with his parents. Yadda yadda.
