Poetry: What Hat?

It goes not to say
That a Cat in a hat,
Is the childish read
Of a humorous chat.

But dear Little Jim,
Of next door but two,
Held his sweet puss
Of more humor than you.

Grabbing a cap
From his father's collection,
He dubbed his cat "Hatty";
A perfect profession.

Upon his return,
Father laughed in his quake
At dear little Kitty
From his child's forsake.

For over the bodice
Of Little Kit Myrtle
His stripy old cap
Shelled the puss like a turtle.
